WMA is one of the pioneers in the payments auditing industry.
Since 2004 we have successfully delivered payment audits to clients in both the Public and Private sector, recovering £25 million for our Clients.
This statement is made voluntarily by Westgate Moore Associates Ltd (“WMA”, “we”, “us”, “our”) in the spirit of section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. WMA’s annual turnover is currently below the £36 million threshold at which publication of a statement is a statutory requirement. We have nonetheless chosen to publish this statement because we believe transparency about modern slavery and human trafficking risk is good practice, and because our clients and partners increasingly expect it as part of their own due diligence.
This statement sets out the steps WMA has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in any part of our own business or in our supply chains.
It covers the financial year ending 31 March 2027 and will be reviewed and updated annually, or sooner if our business or supply chain changes materially.
1. Organisation structure and business
Westgate Moore Associates Ltd is a UK-based professional services and technology firm founded in 2004 and headquartered at JQ Modern, 120 Vyse Street, Hockley, Birmingham. WMA provides two core services to clients:
- A contingency-based Accounts Payable (Payments) Audit, recovering overpayments, duplicate payments and missed credits on behalf of client organisations; and
- SSR, a SaaS platform for supplier statement reconciliation.
WMA is a people- and technology-led business. We do not manufacture goods, and we have no operations involved in the extraction of raw materials, agriculture, or other sectors that are typically considered higher-risk for modern slavery.
2. Our supply chains
WMA’s own supply chain is limited in scope and low risk relative to sectors such as manufacturing, construction, agriculture or hospitality. It is comprised principally of:
- Professional and advisory services (legal, accountancy, insurance, HR and recruitment);
- Software, cloud hosting, IT infrastructure and other technology vendors supporting the SSR platform;
- Office premises, facilities management and general office suppliers; and
- Marketing, recruitment and other professional support services.
The majority of our suppliers are UK-based, well-established businesses. We do not currently operate in, or knowingly source from, sectors or geographies that our risk assessment identifies as high-risk for modern slavery or human trafficking.
3. Our policies
WMA is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our business relationships. We seek to ensure that effective systems and controls are in place across our own business to guard against modern slavery occurring. Our approach is underpinned by:
- A Code of Conduct setting out the standards of behaviour we expect from our staff and directors;
- Recruitment and right-to-work checks carried out on all employees and workers, in line with UK employment law;
- A Whistleblowing Policy that gives employees a confidential channel to raise concerns, including any concerns about modern slavery or human trafficking, without fear of reprisal; and
- Supplier and procurement practices that favour established, reputable providers and that reserve the right to terminate arrangements where a supplier is found to be in breach of anti-slavery and human trafficking laws.
4. Due diligence and risk assessment
Given the nature of our business, we consider our direct exposure to modern slavery risk to be low. We nonetheless take a proportionate, risk-based approach to due diligence, which includes:
- Assessing new suppliers and significant contracts with regard to the sector, geography and labour practices involved before engagement;
- Including anti-slavery and human trafficking expectations in supplier terms and contracts where appropriate; and
- Monitoring our supply chain on an ongoing basis and investigating any concerns raised, whether internally or by a third party.
We have not identified any incidents of modern slavery or human trafficking within our own business or supply chains during the period covered by this statement.
5. Training and awareness
We ensure that relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment and supplier management, are made aware of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking and of how to raise a concern. As WMA grows, we will continue to develop this awareness into more formal, structured training.
6. Measuring effectiveness
As a small, low-risk organisation, we currently measure the effectiveness of our approach through the absence of any identified incidents, the continued use of established and reputable suppliers, and the availability of our whistleblowing channel. We will review whether more formal key performance indicators are appropriate as our business and supply chain evolve.
7. Approval
This statement was approved by the leadership of Westgate Moore Associates Ltd and constitutes our modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2027, made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
